Job description

As a Lead Legal Specialist, eDiscovery, you will play a vital role within our eDiscovery team, focusing on consistent application of internal eDiscovery processes and procedures, facilitating discovery collaborations, and carrying out eDiscovery responsibilities in connection with litigation and government investigation matters and internal HR and Compliance investigations. In support of successful outcomes, primary responsibilities include collaborating with the legal team, internal and external legal counsel and preferred external litigation vendors, to ensure the use of eDiscovery and forensic best practices in a cost-effective manner. 

This role is remote role and you must be based in the United States United States.

What you will do:

eDiscovery Tasks and Matter Management

  • Collaborate with Legal and Compliance colleagues and external counsel to ensure the use of eDiscovery best practices and cost-effective strategies across all litigation, government investigations and HR and Compliance investigations in support of successful outcomes.

  • Help develop and support the implementation of appropriate eDiscovery training and updates for Legal and Compliance colleagues and external counsel to ensure efficient interactions. 

  • Collaborate with legal team and internal business partners on assigned matters to identify and collect documents to support discovery and overall matter objectives and strategy. Ensure robust chain of custody documentation and concise and comprehensive custodial collection notes.

  • Gain thorough understanding of and serve as a resource regarding common document systems and locations, structured and unstructured content, from which documents are collected in connection with product liability, employment, non-product and intellectual property litigation matters and investigations.

  • Partner with internal and external legal counsel to coordinate, recommend and manage discovery database projects and promote efficient document analysis and review consistent with discovery strategies and ensure compliant document productions.

eDiscovery Vendor Management

  • Support Manager, eDiscovery, in strategic vendor management initiatives such as evaluating and engaging preferred eDiscovery and forensics service providers or other department-identified cost savings initiatives and spend analysis/reporting.

  • Establish working relationships with external eDiscovery and forensics vendors and legal service providers to carry out day-to-day responsibilities including matter initiation, database set up, data conveyance and processing, establishing review templates and workflow and matter closure/disposition.

  • Collaborate with vendor partners and eDiscovery team members to understand, utilize and implement innovative eDiscovery solutions that use technology to quickly and efficiently identify key content within each matter.

eDiscovery Process Management and Innovation

  • Collaborate with team members to learn Microsoft Purview, including case creation, building and executing searches, setting up review/export, adjusting case settings and permissions and case closure.

  • Follow Sedona Conference eDiscovery best practices guidelines and developments and seek opportunities to help optimize and streamline eDiscovery processes.

  • As requested, collaborate on efforts to improve current processes, implement technology and system enhancements and share best practices that improve eDiscovery task management, such as legal hold/preservation and use of Microsoft 365 eDiscovery tools.

What you’ll need

Required

• Bachelor’s degree required

• 4+ years of work experience required

Preferred

  • Paralegal certification or equivalent legal experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated understanding of eDiscovery and forensic best practices, and applicable legal technology.

  • Experience collaborating with in-house and outside counsel

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft 365.

  • Experience managing numerous projects and conflicting demands in a fast-paced environment.

$85,500 - $182,100  salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors
