Job Description
The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies is seeking a Law Clerk to join the House Counsel team in Chicago, IL. The Law Clerk position provide crucial support to our attorneys by conducting legal research, drafting documents, assisting in case preparation, and maintaining organized case files. This role presents an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual interested in gaining practical experience within a dynamic legal environment.
The law clerk will be responsible for performing critical functions such as:
Perform in-depth legal research and identify relevant statutes, regulations, and case law.Prepare legal documents such as memos, briefs, contracts, pleadings, and motions, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to legal standards.Assist attorneys with preparing and reviewing legal documents, including appeals, petitions, and settlement agreements.Manage and maintain case files, databases, and documentation, ensuring easy retrieval and secure storage of information.Collaborate with internal teams to gather information, data, and updates related to legal cases, contributing to well-informed decisions and strategies.Stay current with changes in laws, regulations, and legal precedents that could impact ongoing cases or legal strategies.Assist with administrative tasks as needed, including scheduling, correspondence, and file organization.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in an accredited law schoolExcellent research skills, including the ability to navigate legal databases and other relevant resources effectively.Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for drafting legal documents and collaborating with colleagues and clients.Proficiency in legal research tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and related software.Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic work environment.Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve team goals.
