Manages legal business matters pertaining to the organization with a high level of autonomy and self-direction. Provides a variety of general corporate and commercial legal services to in-house clients. Acts as advisor on legal issues involving the organization’s regulatory compliance. Reviews legal data and advises organization on appropriate legal action to be taken. Coordinates litigation and other legal matters handled by outside counsel. Demonstrates expertise in corporate, commercial, international, employment, and intellectual property legal matters. Occasional M&A-related duties.

Responsibilities- Drafting and negotiating commercial and corporate documentation, negotiating with outside parties, rendering opinions, consulting with and advising internal clients, and representing the company in legal dealings.
- Managing outside counsel relationships.
- Anticipating and guarding against legal risks facing the company.
- Acting as the company’s HIPAA compliance officer and developing related processes.
- Developing and recommending company policies and positions on legal issues.
- Formal and informal presentations to management regarding the status of legal projects.
- Provides leadership and legal advice on a range of legal, regulatory and compliance matters.
- Providing compliance training to employees and consultants.

- Demonstrate behavior consistent with the Company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.
- Ensure that direct report(s) are trained and evaluated on their knowledge and adherence to the Company’s values, Code of Ethics and Conduct, and applicable compliance policies.
- Manage, evaluate and develop team of employees to meet functional deliverables and responsibilities. Complete company people management requirements. Exhibit manager core competencies.
- It is the responsibility of every Spacelabs Healthcare employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
- Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.
- At least 5 + years of healthcare law experience. Mix of law firm and in house experience a plus.
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school.
- Experience working in the healthcare, medical device, or pharmaceutical industry.
- Active member in good standing with state bar.
- Exceptional communicator, capable of handling complex negotiations and advising senior company management.
- Extremely organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to work independently and assume control and accountability for scope of responsibility as it relates to the Company’s legal matters.
- Thinking and acting like a business partner. Demonstrates an understanding of the business and the practical aspects of the law as applied to the operation of the business.
- Highly responsive and motivated, willing to work long hours when projects demand.
- Willing to handle legal projects that are not within areas of previous expertise, e., willing to learn on the job and develop new areas of competence.
- Ability to quickly earn the trust of internal business leaders and to develop strong business and interpersonal relationships with key personnel.
- Must travel internationally and be able to acquire all necessary travel documents.
- Must be able to complete job responsibilities working with global time zone needs such as attending late night/early morning meetings by phone and/or web to meet global business needs.
