This position will be on site at our facility located in: Cisco, TXWe do not offer visa sponsorship for this position.Position Summary: The General Counsel serves as the chief legal advisor for the family office, ensuring legal compliance across all aspects of its activities, mitigating legal risks, and supporting business and family objectives. The role requires a strong understanding of the organization’s business model and the ability to manage complex legal issues that arise in a fast-paced environment. The General Counsel, while being the family office attorney, will advise on business and family matters as well as provide support for the family’s business, church, and charitable interests. The work will include close relationships with the members of the Wilks family.

Key Roles / Responsibilities: Strategic guidance: Provide strategic advice that combines legal expertise with financial and governance insights and generate personalized and tailored solutions for unique circumstances and objectives.Legal and regulatory matters: Manage legal and regulatory matters, including advising on entity formation, selection and assistance with regulatory filings (SEC and other), conflicts of interests, etc. Family disputes: Assist with resolution of family disputes and navigate complex family relationships.Risk mitigation: Assess and mitigate risks while presenting solutions that align with the family's goals. Legal compliance: Ensure that the family office complies with legal obligations, including terms of trusts, wills, agreements, and contracts. Due diligence: Perform due diligence on investments, business plans, and personal projects. Corporate transactions: Assist with corporate transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, contracts, claims, and other documentation. Family governance: Advise and assist with family governance. Income tax advisory: Consult and strategize with tax advisors on income tax matters. Private foundations: Advise on private foundations and philanthropic initiatives. External counsel: Source and manage external counsel when needed.Perform other legal or closely related responsibilities as required. Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications: Must possess J.D. with admission to the Texas bar.Minimum of 5 years applicable law practice experience.Must communicate well to clearly explain complex legal matters and keep stakeholders informed about such activities.Must possess an ability to work independently and as a member of a team.Must absolutely understand the discretion required regarding family confidentiality.
