Overview

The Counsel – Intellectual Property partners closely with the VP, Global Intellectual Property and Brand Protection and the entire Global Intellectual Property team to manage and oversee the global brand protection program for the CROCS, JIBBITZ and HEYDUDE brands with a focus on IP clearance, filing, prosecution and associated strategy. The ideal candidate will excel in creating and leading IP strategies and offering thoughtful and business savvy legal guidance They will thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with diverse departments and global teams to protect and enhance our brand's intellectual property.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct and review global trademark and design patent searches and provide recommendations to diverse collaborators regarding availability for use and registration, infringement risks, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Implement and continuously refine global trademark and design patent filing strategy including leading worldwide prosecution of filings and maintenance of registrations.
  • Coordinate U.S. IP enforcement including guiding strategy, evaluating targets for action and managing disputes end to end.
  • Manage extensive network of external legal counsel, agents and service providers.
  • Supervise, develop and support a dedicated team of IP specialists.
  • Handle and track related budget and spending.
  • Develop relationships with internal regional partners and work collaboratively to develop and implement regional brand protection strategies.
  • Track metrics and generate reports related to U.S. brand enforcement including ensuring cases are tracked in the case management system.
  • Collaborate with broader Global IP team in developing and driving global brand protection strategy.
  • Defend company against IP claims including investigating allegations, preparing response letters, deciding strategy and negotiating settlements.
  • Develop and deliver ongoing intellectual property training for internal team members and respond on day-to-day intellectual property inquiries.
  • Negotiate and draft contracts including licensing, collaboration, consulting, non-disclosure, agency and development agreements.

What You'll Bring to the Table

  • JD from an ABA accredited law school
  • Minimum (5) five years as an intellectual property attorney focused on global brand protection and enforcement.
  • In house legal department experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility to handle multiple tasks while navigating shifting priorities.
  • Consistent track record of taking initiate and staying motivated while working independently, with a strong sense of ownership and purpose.
  • Skilled in leading and inspiring a team of brand protection professionals, fostering collaboration and supporting both internal and external partners.
  • Capable of offering clear, practical, and solutions-focused legal advice, with a commitment to open and effective communication.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills.

Pay offered will vary based on job-related factors such as location, experience, training, skills, and abilities.
