About The Role
We are seeking an experienced attorney to join Turn/River in the company’s first in-house legal role. In this position, you will report directly to the CFO and work cross-functionally within our organization to ensure that legal matters are handled in a professional and efficient manner. You will be responsible for providing legal advice and support on company matters, drafting and reviewing legal documents, and overseeing regulatory compliance. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney with private funds experience to make a significant impact on the company and shape the legal and compliance function at Turn/River.
Key Responsibilities
Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, including fund formation documents, general partner agreements, investment documents, NDAs, MSAs, and employment agreementsManage outside fund counsel and review fund offering documents and side letters when launching new fund products; serve as the in-house legal expert with respect to provisions and mechanics of the fund governing documentsOversee the company’s compliance program to ensure the company is in compliance with securities law and regulations as well as fund governing documentsWork with outside counsel to manage legal matters requiring specialized expertise or additional resourcesMonitor legal developments in the industry and make recommendations to the business regarding process and policy updates
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of legal experience, including at least 3 years at a law firmJD (or equivalent) degree from an accredited law schoolExperience working in and/or with private equity, venture capital, or hedge fundsAbility to analyze complex legal issues and provide clear, practical adviceKnowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices for registered investment advisersHigh attention to detailExcellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a diversity of teams and individuals

Compensation
The annual base salary range for this role is $340,000 - $400,000, taking into account numerous variable factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational requirements.This role may be eligible to participate in the Turn/River carry program and a discretionary bonus program.
