JOB SUMMARYThe Assistant General Counsel is a senior role in the commercial legal team, responsible for providing strategic and practical legal advice to the business and sales units on a variety of matters, such as contracts, disputes, compliance, intellectual property, and risk management. The Assistant General Counsel also mentors other legal professionals, develops best practices and templates, and co-leads legal education initiatives within the organization. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESWorks with limited supervision. Creative problem solving, manages internal customer relationships, understand strategic vision, executes to goals of strategy, management of outside counsel including budgeting for legal matters.Manages higher level risk, complexity, and business impact.Recommends and drives best practices.May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESReports to the Associate General Counsel of the business verticalThis role has direct supervisory duties over Senior Counsel and Corporate CounselJob may be responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management).May supervise professional staff or less experienced attorneys

JOB QUALIFICATIONSKNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTSThe ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial law, strong communication and negotiation skills, and a collaborative and innovative mindset.Prior experience in healthcare device manufacturing, drug development and/or sterilization technology, or demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply the relevant laws and regulations in these domainsGood oral and written communication, good judgement, strong interpersonal skills, demonstrate ability to work in a changing, fast paced, and energetic environment.Strong work ethic, motivated and self-starter, ability to resolve conflict, business acumen with business-oriented approach to problem solving, ability to prioritize and manage competing demands EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Minimum of 7-12 years of legal experience or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.Graduate of an ABA or foreign equivalent law school, member of a bar in good standing, eligible to practice law in USA (Florida preferred).Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
