The Paralegal provides support to attorneys by performing a variety of tasks related to legal research, regulatory filings, and contract management. This role requires a thorough understanding of legal procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. The Paralegal will work closely with the legal team and other business partners to ensure the smooth progression of legal matters.

Duties And Responsibilities

Legal Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct legal research using online databases and legal reference materials.
  • Analyze case law, statutes, regulations, and legal articles to assist attorneys and the business in maintaining compliance with applicable standards.
  • Organize and maintain compliance-related databases for law and rule changes and state administrative requests.

Regulatory Filings

 

  • Prepare and file regulatory filings and other legal documents with relevant agencies.
  • Track filing deadlines and manage calendars for external filing deadlines and regular internal compliance audits.
  • Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner.

Contract Management

 

  • Manage contract review process by building and maintaining contract database and ensuring relevant business partners and Legal team members review and sign off on each contract for the business.

Internal And External Client Interaction

 

  • Respond to external customer requests regarding the processing of their personal information in accordance with internal policies.
  • Respond to business partner questions regarding business-specific legal requirements.

Administrative Duties

 

  • Support the Legal Department, as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all internal matters

Education

Job Requirements:

 

  • Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field. A bachelor's degree or a paralegal certificate from an accredited program is preferred.

Experience

 

  • Previous experience as a paralegal or in a legal assistant role is advantageous.
  • Previous experience in a corporate legal department is preferred.

Skills

 

  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work under stringent deadlines is critical.

Certifications: (if applicable)

  • Certification from a professional paralegal organization (e.g., NALA, NFPA) is a plus.
