  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.
  • 7 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.
  • Experience in privacy and consumer class actions, product liability, intellectual property, or content moderation and intermediary liability issues.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in litigation including examining and defending witnesses, verbal argument, and trial experience.
  • Knowledge of privacy, consumer protection, anti-trust, contract, content moderation/safety, or Intellectual Property (IP) Law issues in a technology context.
  • Knowledge of Google products and the broader technology industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, leadership, and management skills.

In this role, you will defend Google and advise on a wide variety of legal matters that pose litigation risk to our products and businesses around the world, including privacy class actions, lawsuits relating to content moderation and intermediary liability, and consumer and product liability class actions. You will give legal advice about litigation risks and come up with creative ways to mitigate and eliminate those risks. You will strive to think proactively to advance Google’s position and interests by identifying and working on legal policy issues that affect Google's docket.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $246,000-$350,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of litigation and provide prelitigation counseling to internal teams.
  • Work with Legal, Product, Engineering, and Business team members to provide counseling on existing and potential litigation.
  • Work with cross-functional partners across Google to advise on litigation risk and status of Google docket.
  • Partner with various counsels to develop strategy to manage and win lawsuits.
  • Collaborate with other external in-house counsels and legal organizations on litigation and policy matters that affect Google's docket.
