Legal.io is working with a leading travel booking platform company that is seeking a commercial counsel to serve on a full-time (40 hours per week) contract-based engagement for an initial 6 month term. The role would ideally be based in Canada (remote or hybrid), New York, Connecticut, or Dallas although highly qualified fully remote candidates will also be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal support to revenue-generating business units, focusing on strategic partnerships and commercial transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including SaaS agreements, white label products, and technology contracts.
  • Work closely with the accommodation unit to support business operations and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, finance, and operations.
  • Utilize technology platforms such as Google Workspace, Conga CLM, and Salesforce to enhance legal processes and efficiency.
  • Take ownership of legal projects and provide proactive legal advice to support business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of in-house legal experience, preferably in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
  • Strong understanding of commercial law and experience with strategic partnerships.
  • Experience in the hospitality industry is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to work independently and roll up sleeves to get the job done.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to work EST hours and occasionally travel to the office in Toronto if needed.
