Job Description

Chubb's Philadelphia House Counsel firm, Bunker & Ray, is seeking a litigation associate for the position of Casualty Attorney. The Casualty Attorney will handle a caseload of the firm’s arbitration and trial level matters, including premises liability, commercial, motor vehicle and products liability cases.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate must be an attorney licensed to practice in Pennsylvania state and federal courts, should possess at least five years of defense litigation experience, and should possess the professional stature and business acumen needed to be a productive member of the firm.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should also possess:

  • Experience litigating premises liability, product liability, construction site accidents, elevator accidents and motor vehicle liability cases.
  • Enthusiasm and aptitude for trying cases to a jury, with some trial experience preferred.
  • In depth knowledge of Pennsylvania state and federal court procedural law, pleading, discovery, motion practice and pretrial techniques and strategies.
  • Good oral and written advocacy skills, with a demonstrated track record of summary judgment and/or appellate success.
  • Knowledge of the substantive law applicable to Pennsylvania casualty defense litigation, with analytical skills needed to address a variety of legal issues.
  • Proficiency in effectively and strategically communicating with clients, claim department customers and law firm colleagues regarding litigated matters.
  • Demonstrated, deeply ingrained enthusiasm and skills necessary to provide excellent customer service to clients, claim examiners, and internal customers within the firm.
  • Technological savvy to thrive as a litigator in a digital environment.
  • Strong team player willing to work effectively with others, at all levels and to step outside a defined role where required to advance the firm’s business.
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently and carefully in a high-volume environment.
  • Excellent time management, organization and attention to detail.
