Join our esteemed organization as a Junior Technical Specialist, supporting the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) in a 1-year contract role. This position is designed for individuals with a passion for technology and a desire to contribute significantly to the service delivery of IT solutions for over 10,000 users.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and prioritize IT incidents and service desk tickets, ensuring alignment with business impact and customer satisfaction.
- Serve as a technical resource for NCDOT's standard desktop applications, providing support and guidance to end users.
- Analyze customer requirements, troubleshoot a variety of hardware and software issues, and resolve technical problems effectively.
- Manage critical incidents with urgency, documenting processes and ensuring adherence to operational standards.
- Collaborate with Data Center Operations and development teams to identify and address application and network issues.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for processes and procedures, ensuring clarity and consistency in operations.
- Provide training and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and customer service excellence.
Required Skills
- Proficient technical expertise in desktop applications, hardware, software, and networking protocols.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying technical information to non-technical users.
- Familiarity with call tracking systems, particularly ServiceNow or similar tools.
- Project management skills with the ability to lead teams effectively and assess individual strengths for project success.
- Awareness and understanding of IT security policies and data protection practices.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in IT support or a similar role.
- Proven track record of excellent customer service skills and a proactive approach to problem resolution.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree in Information Technology or a related field is preferred.
- Technical or professional certification in IT-related areas is a plus.
