Our Litigation department has an excellent opportunity for a Paralegal in the Atlanta office. This is a non-exempt position reporting to the Human Resources Manager and several attorneys. This position would be responsible for investigating facts, working within e-discovery platforms, and preparing for depositions, arbitrations, and trials.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of legal documents such as complaints and answers, motions, discovery requests and responses, affidavits, subpoenas and settlement documents for review, approval, and use by attorney.
  • Coordinate document production including summarizing documents, attending to productions, reviewing documents, and arranging for copying.
  • Assist with depositions including preparing notices and subpoenas duces tecum and arranging for court reporter. Index and summarize depositions and deposition exhibits. Prepare and organize materials for depositions.
  • Assist with brief preparation including cite checking, shepardizing, proofing, quotation verification, and compilation of appendices and addendums.
  • Assist with trial preparation including preparing exhibits, notebooks, checklists, and witness files. Coordinate the schedules of witnesses and experts.
  • Attend trials and act as liaison with outside vendors for the preparation of charts, graphs, etc. Maintain and organize trial exhibits and documents at court and arrange for transportation. Experience with technology hot seat is highly desired.
  • Investigate facts of case and prepare summaries and memos concerning the data.
  • Organize and maintain document form and client files.
  • Database case management including developing information retrieval systems.
  • Research and analyze law sources such as cases, statutes, legal articles, regulations, and public records.
  • Other duties as requested and assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with four (4) years of experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams; Adobe Pro; Intapp Time or other time entry systems; and NetDocs or other document management systems.
  • Experience working with eDiscovery.
  • Experience working with Relativity, Westlaw, Opus, OnCue or Trial Director, Pacer, Odyssey eFile GA, and PeachCourt.
  • Experience drafting, serving, and reviewing open records requests highly desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff members and attorneys.
  • Ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, tact, and flexibility under pressure in a mixed-matrix environment with many competing priorities.
  • A strong client service approach and team orientation.
  • Ability to work overtime or travel when needed.
