Job Overview

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager contractor for a 12-month engagement within the Engineering Application Services team. This pivotal role will oversee project management duties across multiple ongoing technical projects and assist in the development of critical technical guidelines and workflows essential for the Preconstruction Engineering Design and CADD business processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Decompose and manage tasks into clearly defined work items for various ongoing technical projects.
  • Prioritize and monitor the progress of work items and deliverables.
  • Assure that work items and deliverables are scheduled, completed, and delivered to clients promptly with high quality and comprehensive documentation.
  • Create and sustain CADD guidelines and workflows for department-wide administration and utilization of Bentley and other CADD systems.
  • Document program and project deliverables as assigned.
  • Collaborate with clients to ensure aligned business processes.
  • Draft and deliver training materials as required.
  • Provide maintenance and quality control for the team’s register of project tasks and deliverables.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of project management experience in IT-related initiatives.
  • Demonstrated capability in writing clear and concise technical training materials and user documentation.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining business processes to IT users and IT applications to business users.
  • Exceptional organizational and presentation skills.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Working knowledge of the application development life cycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Understanding of NCDOT engineering design processes and transportation lifecycle business processes.
  • Experience with AGILE development methodology is advantageous.
