Description

Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney to provide products counselling support within Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS offers a wide range of IT products and services for cloud customers, including on-demand compute, storage, database, messaging, and other software-as-service products.

In this role, you'll serve as the primary attorney for several AWS business application products, working closely with internal business clients to advise on complex legal issues, support new product and feature launches, and provide subject matter expertise on regulatory and compliance issues. Your responsibilities will include: identifying legal risks and proposing mitigation strategies; advising on regulatory issues (including privacy, accessibility, and communications-related regulation) and overseeing compliance, negotiating strategic technology agreements, providing input on business strategy, and analyzing and proposing policy positions around the world. You also will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways, and help build processes that address risk and allow the business to innovate and scale quickly.

The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of legal experience
  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
  • Experience in private practice or in house experience at a technology company or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with technology, or policy and regulatory compliance strategy
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Sound and practical business judgment
    • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
