The Assistant General Counsel position will support Acrisure’s wholesale insurance division, regional business units, and special projects for the Chief Legal Officer. This position will include handling a wide variety of commercial transactions and general legal counseling on a diverse set of legal, regulatory, operational, and other issues. The position reports to the lead lawyer for the wholesale division. This role is intended for a hard-working, forward-thinking transactional attorney seeking to build an in-house career in a fast-paced, corporate environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide overall legal and compliance support to the wholesale division and the regional business units at the direction of the lead lawyer for the wholesale division and the regional general counsels;
- Assist the Chief Legal Officer with special projects;
- Manage the workflow of a high-volume commercial transaction, regulatory, and general legal counseling docket;
- Shift priorities and address time-sensitive issues and matters to support real-time business demands, needs and deadlines;
- Take direction and execute on delegated assignments/matters, exhibiting resourcefulness and independent judgment;
- Provide accurate, practical, pragmatic, timely, and responsive legal advice and guidance to Acrisure’s management and personnel on a wide range of issues affecting Acrisure’s varied businesses;
- Track and maintain matters in company system and keep timely records to support accurate and up to-date reporting and metrics;
- Participate in joint efforts and projects to help meet the demands of Acrisure’s enterprise-wide goals and strategies.
Education/Experience:
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited nationally recognized law school;
- Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction;
- At least 3-6 years of law firm and/or in-house experience required with a focus on transactional and regulatory matters;
- Experience with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various types of agreements, including but not limited to service agreements, revenue sharing agreements, vendor agreements, NDAs, BAAs, and SAAS agreements.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and enforcement matters.
- Insurance experience preferred but not required.
