Job Description:
Asurion is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to join our team. Reporting directly to the General Counsel and will be accountable to the Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CCO will help design and lead the Corporate Compliance Program, functioning as an independent and objective person who, directly or through staff or independent third-party persons or organizations, reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organization. The position is responsible for establishing standards and procedures that seek to prevent illegal, unethical, and improper conduct, for ensuring these standards are communicated and institutionalized throughout the company, and for monitoring the company’s compliance with these standards and procedures.
The role of the Chief Compliance Officer is a full-time position within Asurion’s Legal Team, and has responsibility to ensure that the company maintains ongoing compliance with laws and regulations governing portable electronics insurance, service contracts, warranties and other ancillary products and services in all jurisdictions in which Asurion does business. This role focuses on ensuring the organization's business activities are conducted ethically and in compliance with relevant regulations, laws, and standards. The CCO will provide oversight and support for Asurion’s client teams and operations including facilitating discussions designed to consistently provide business-oriented solutions and risk mitigation guidance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive compliance policies and procedures that align with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Promote a culture of ethics and integrity within the organization by establishing and enforcing codes of conduct and ethical standards.
- Conducts regular risk assessments to identify potential compliance risks within the organization and develop effective strategies to mitigate those risks.
- Establishes robust monitoring and auditing processes to regularly assess the organization's compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Partner with the internal audit team and support the relationships with external auditors.
- Act as a liaison between the organization and regulatory authorities, ensuring timely communication and cooperation during regulatory inspections or investigations.
- Evaluate and implement compliance management software and other technological solutions to streamline compliance processes, tracking, and reporting.
- Provide regular updates to the Board of Directors on the organization's compliance efforts, including significant issues, developments, and strategic initiatives.
- Provide regulatory compliance and consumer protection related guidance to internal clients on matters pertaining to insurance and service contract requirements, as well as compliance obligations and processes of the Company.
- Accurately assesses and manages risk through knowledge of Asurion’s business and relevant legal issues, including reconciling the implication of past precedent with current and future needs.
- Develops a thorough understanding of Asurion’s business, processes and goals to provide innovative legal solutions that solve unique or challenging problems.
- Establish strong collaborative relationships with cross functional team, including legal, underwriting, finance, marketing, program management, client services, supply chain and product and new partner growth.
- Demonstrates good analytical skills and judgment to evaluate factual and qualitative information in complicated or novel situations.
- Act as a trusted advisor.
- Actively seeks operational understanding and implications of initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)) are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in compliance within highly regulated industries.
- Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards in the Insurance sector.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with ability to influence executive leaders and stakeholders to execute compliance strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively understand, consider and address the client or business while mitigating risk exposure
- Must possess strong judgment, confidence, collaborative problem-solving skills, and ability to spot potential issues quickly
- Highly organized and driven to thoroughly understand the issue and the possible implications of legal guidance
- Must be able to identify early signs of conflict and get to essence of problems to resolve issues before they escalate to a conflict
