Job Overview

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is actively seeking a dedicated Project Manager Specialist Contractor for a 12-month engagement within the Engineering Application Services team. This role is critical in overseeing various ongoing technical projects while also contributing to the development of key technical guidelines and workflows that support essential engineering processes in the transportation lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Decompose project tasks into well-defined and manageable work items for multiple technical initiatives.
  • Prioritize tasks and monitor the progress of deliverables to ensure timely completion.
  • Guarantee the quality and prompt delivery of work items and documentation to clients.
  • Create and maintain CADD guidelines and workflows for the effective use of Bentley and other CADD systems across the Department.
  • Accurately document assigned program and project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with clients to ensure effective business processes are in place.
  • Develop and present training materials as required.
  • Oversee the quality control of the team’s register of project tasks and deliverables.

Required Skills

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in project management, specifically within IT-related initiatives and programs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in writing clear and concise technical training materials and user documentation.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient organizational and presentation skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Understanding of the application development life cycle.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of relevant project management experience.
  • Familiarity with engineering design processes and the business processes associated with the transportation lifecycle is highly beneficial.
  • Experience with AGILE development methodology is preferable.
