About This Role

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Counsel-Senior Assistant Vice President as part of the Regulatory Compliance, Programs, & Controls team in the Chief Operating Office Legal Division.

This Senior Counsel-Senior Assistant Vice President will provide legal support and advice on the Policy Management Policy and Procedures and advising the Enterprise Policy Office. The Senior Counsel-Senior Assistant Vice President will serve as a trusted legal advisor and strategic partner to senior leaders in the supported functions.

In This Role You Will

  • Provide objective and pragmatic advice to the Enterprise Policy Office
  • Assist with the facilitation of the Legal Department's coordinated review of enterprise policy documents
  • Develop partnerships in the Legal Department with Legal subject matter experts engaged in Legal review of enterprise policy documents
  • Provide advice to members of the Legal Department on policy management requirements
  • Provide guidance to internal clients on legal matters to assist with legal risk assessment, planning, and policy decisions
  • Collaborate within the department and across business and staff functions to address legal and risk issues in a manner consistent with the best interests of Wells Fargo
  • Independently resolve moderately complex issues and lead teams to meet deliverables
  • Identify and analyze complex legal issues, develop conclusions, and make recommendations for issue resolution
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key internal constituencies, including policy owners and their teams, policy liaison teams from other Business Groups and Enterprise Functions, senior business leaders, Risk, and Compliance and Audit executives, as well as relevant external constituencies
  • Engage and influence stakeholders, internal partners and peers associated with the function or affected by its outcomes
  • Lead analysis of and response to legal, regulatory, reputational, compliance, and policy matters within area of expertise
  • Apply cross-disciplinary or specialty expertise proactively to manage the most complex legal and regulatory issues
  • May lead initiatives of varying scope and complexity
  • Identify and resolve issues which may impact multiple business lines or the enterprise

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States

Desired Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of practicing as an attorney with a major law firm, financial services regulatory agency or self-regulatory organization, or in-house law department
  • Experience with prudential financial regulatory supervision and enforcement, including cross-business, complex implementation of remediation and advocacy
  • Experience working on company policies, procedures, and related documents
  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders such as compliance, front line control teams, and other line of business legal partners
  • Experience preparing and delivering effective executive summaries, whitepapers, status reports, and dynamic presentations for management and senior leaders
  • Extensive experience in analyzing and conducting research on legal and regulatory issues in area of practice and provide effective advice to clients on complex legal matters
  • Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with stakeholders, including senior business leaders, to achieve consensus and accomplish business goals
  • Strong project management skills including the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
