Job Title: Privacy Counsel

Location: Salt Lake City, UT 84020 (Hybrid, 3 days a week, Tuesday-Thursday), Austin, TX

Duration: 12 months

Contract Type: W2 only

Pay Rate: $50-$57/Hour

Privacy Counsel, Americas Privacy will play a key role in supporting the efforts of the Global Privacy team in managing data privacy risk at Client's.

Specific Duties Will Include

  • Draft and negotiate data processing agreements with partners, service providers, and other third parties
  • Support Business Units (BUs) with timely and effective triaging of incoming data processing agreement (DPA) review requests
  • Act as lead point in facilitating, tracking, and enhancing prompt and timely communication with BUs throughout DPA reviews
  • Work cross-functionally to conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) on processing activities involving the collection, processing & disclosure of personal information as assigned
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders as needed to improve risk assessment questionnaires and processes
  • Support the implementation of new privacy and artificial intelligence (AI) laws in the United States, Canada and Latin America
  • Monitor changes in privacy laws, regulations, and standards, and support updating the privacy program as necessary. Manage cross-functional privacy-related projects
  • Collaborate with various departments - IT, Engineering, Product, etc. - to ensure privacy considerations are integrated into product development, data management, and business processes.
  • Advise on employee-privacy related obligations and support handling of employee privacy-related requests (such as access and deletion requests) as needed

Requirements

  • JD or foreign equivalent, 2-5 years of privacy-related work experience
  • Canadian law license and expertise in Canadian privacy law strongly preferred
  • Membership in a U.S. State Bar required/preferred
  • Specific experience working with, and knowledge of, privacy laws applicable to businesses, such as CCPA, CPRA, GDPR, LGPD, PIPEDA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, as well as other U.S. state and federal privacy and data security and global data protection laws
  • Experience working cross-functionally and partnering with legal, business, information security, human resources, data governance, risk management, and engineering teams
  • Experience giving timely and practical privacy advice in a global organization
  • Experience advising on employee-related privacy matters preferred
  • Ability to support urgent matters and collaborate on time-sensitive legal obligations as needs arise
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects strongly preferred
  • Certified International Privacy Professional (CIPP/US)
  • Additional privacy certifications (CIPM, CIPP/T, or CIPP/E) preferred
