Summary

This is a leadership role within the legal department, which includes the office of the chief compliance officer. As the legal operations program manager, you will play a critical role in helping to develop department resources to meet the needs of a complex agriculture, foods and logistics business. Your input will help shape the future of the legal department and help us achieve the goal of providing world-class, cutting-edge legal services to the Perdue organization.

Principal And Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and operation of a contract database across all of Perdue’s business units working with personnel in purchasing, risk management, IT, logistics, marketing, manufacturing etc.
  • Work directly with the AGC/chief compliance officer to advance compliance related workflows, including development and implementation of compliance policies and optimization of related technology platforms (e.g. Navex).
  • Additionally, lead the implementation and operation of various technology platforms within and adjacent to Perdue’s legal department related to outside counsel management, employment/HR matters, litigation, compliance, board/corporate matters and general information management.
  • Stay current with developments in legal and compliance department technology platforms and associated best practices with an eye toward implementing the same at Perdue.
  • Work closely with the corporate legal team to modernize the management of corporate records for all Perdue entities.
  • Assist in the creation of and help lead deployment of contract templates, playbooks and training programs.
  • Work closely with senior attorneys to find solutions to organize existing substantive legal knowledge from various sources so it can be easily searched, accessed and shared with attorneys and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure outside counsel comply with department policies and work closely with attorneys to evaluate outside counsel performance and capabilities, as necessary.
  • Play a lead role in legal and compliance vendor selection, onboarding, management and performance evaluations.
  • Recruit, manage and develop administrative personnel within the Perdue legal department.
  • Assist in setting and managing the legal department budget working with finance and other corporate functions.
  • Lead and participate in special projects strictly related to department development as required by the general counsel or assistant general counsels.

Experience Requirements

An undergraduate degree from a four-year institution, professional degree preferred. Our ideal candidate will have:

  • 10 years post undergrad work experience and 6-8 years experience working across departments in a large organization and in an operations/project leader role or as a paralegal managing critical workstreams
  • Knowledge of the contract lifecycle, including associated software platforms
  • Interest in building on your existing knowledge and experience of legal and compliance technology and implementation of the same
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Interest and enthusiasm for managing legal department administrative personnel and processes
  • Comfortable working with senior company and department personnel, and personnel in a diverse set of functions at Perdue
  • A collaborative and thoughtful style, and an interest in working on a close-knit team
  • An interest in learning and continuous improvement
  • Comfortable giving and receiving feedback and maintaining open lines of communication

Environmental Factors And Physical Requirements

  • Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.
  • May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
  • May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
  • Work activity is in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment
