Loyal is a clinical-stage veterinary medicine company developing drugs intended to extend the lifespan and healthspan of dogs. In other words, our mission is to help dogs live longer, healthier lives.
We've already achieved significant milestones on our path to gaining FDA approval for the first lifespan extension drug for any species. We have three products in our pipeline and are on track to bring the first product to market in 2025.

About The Role
We're seeking an experienced General Counsel to play a pivotal role in facilitating the future growth of the company. This role is responsible for ensuring legal compliance, managing risks, and providing strategic legal guidance in support of the company's growth.
You will be reporting to our CEO - Celine Halioua.
Your daily work will include:
- Extensive experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex documents.
- Advise on intellectual property matters and ensure the protection of company assets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and mitigate legal risks associated with business initiatives and strategic partnerships.
- Handle disputes, litigation, and other legal proceedings, including managing outside counsel when necessary.
- Reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, such as vendor, customer, and partnership agreements
- Overseeing the protection of the company's intellectual property, including confidential product information
- Ensuring the company is legally compliant.
- Advising on compliance with applicable laws and regulations, such as FDA rules.
- Advising on employment law matters.
- Ensuring equity is approved by the Board of Directors and manages all equity transaction matters.
- Securing the company's interests and protecting it from legal risk.
- Provides a legal perspective to proposed corporate actions.
- Developing functional plans for managing legal matters.
About you:
- A minimum of 8 - 15 years of experience practicing law.
- JD from a top US law school and active bar membership in good standing.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Strong understanding of contract law, corporate law, and relevant regulatory frameworks, with the ability to apply legal principles to real-world business scenarios.
- Excellent drafting and editing skills, with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and provide strategic guidance to senior management.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced technology-centric environment.
