The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent problem-solving and project management abilities to join our growing Legal team. In this role, you will establish a world-class Legal Operations function to drive key Law Department projects and initiatives, improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our Law Department, and manage our legal billing function.

You possess excellent listening, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills and are motivated to learn the functions of legal operations to tailor processes and tools accordingly. You have outstanding project implementation and management abilities, thrive as a team player, and are passionate about building relationships and collaborating with legal teammates and key stakeholders. You maintain a continuous focus on improving Law Department processes and practices and are adept at thriving in dynamic, fast-paced environments while successfully managing multiple deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

 

  • Assess the overall maturity of the current legal operations function, develop, and drive the implementation of recommendations.
  • Define and drive strategic and operational initiatives with on-time and on-budget results.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and create efficiencies.

Data Analytics and Reporting

 

  • Develop and maintain information dashboards for the General Counsel and leadership team.

Department Applications

 

  • Assess the maturity and effectiveness of current software systems and develop corrective action plans, including maximizing benefits from the existing suite of applications and driving further efficiencies by identifying and onboarding new tools.
  • Manage the Systems Administrative Specialist responsible for the suite of legal software applications.
  • Develop and implement the Law Department AI roadmap.
  • Oversee the Law Department’s intranet site to communicate timely and relevant information and interface with company stakeholders.

Law Department Spend

 

  • Support Law Department leadership in managing the budget, including tracking spend, assisting with budget matters, and optimizing spend workflows within the Law Department.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, IT, and HR.

Training

 

  • In coordination with Law Department leadership and stakeholders, help create and manage training materials and courses administered by the Law Department.

Preferred Experience

 

  • Experience managing legal operations or large-scale program management, ideally with experience in designing and implementing a Legal Operations function.
  • Excellent project management experience, including designing and driving projects involving collaboration with multiple stakeholders and impacting multiple departments.
  • Strong experience owning and managing a legal billing function and budget, including experience with related applications such as Legal Tracker.
  • Demonstrated ability to advance and complete projects on time.
  • Strong experience in developing, implementing, and using legal department technology solutions, including applications such as PowerBI, Onit (or equivalent CLMs), AdobeSign (or equivalent), Workfront, and Luminance (or comparable AI tool).

Academic Credentials

 

  • BA or BS preferred.

LOCATION:

 

  • Santa Clara, CA (or San Jose, CA or Austin, TX)
  • Hybrid - requires 3-days a week onsite
