This position is located in the Insurance Fraud Division.
The Insurance Fraud Division is a unit within the South Carolina Department of Insurance that investigates and prosecutes insurance fraud cases referred to the Department and coordinates the Department's fraud enforcement policy. Under general supervision of a supervising attorney and the Insurance Fraud Division Director, this prosecutor position is responsible for prosecution of insurance fraud cases brought on behalf of the State of South Carolina.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
Juris doctor degree or its equivalent from an accredited law school, be a member of the South Carolina Bar in good standing and satisfy Rule 403 requirements. Must satisfactorily completes a DRUG SCREENING, CREDIT CHECK, DELINQUET TAX CHECK, ATTORNEY GRIENANCE CHECK AND S.L.E.D. BACKGROUND CHECK.
Must be able to effectively interpret statutes and rules, applying criminal law to facts and determining the significance of testimony or other items of evidence. The analysis also consists of assessing the credibility of witnesses based on factors such as bias or inconsistency in statements.
Must have the ability to fairly and impartially decide whether and how to prosecute accused persons and avoid ethical lapses such as withholding evidence that may negate, relying on false evidence and mistreating the law or facts.
Must be able to effectively organize and apply the theories, practices and principles of effective management in order to oversee, handle, and prepare multiple cases for trial or plea and manage the caseload of the Insurance Fraud Division.
Must be Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing on behalf of the State of South Carolina to effectively advocate on behalf of the State of South Carolina.
Must be willing to travel in and outside of the state of South Carolina as required and be available on call or after hours.
