About The Role

Impact you will make

The Senior Legal Counsel is responsible for assisting the General Counsel in negotiating customer and vendor agreements and providing counsel, leadership, guidance, and support to other areas of the business including HR and employment law matters, dispute resolution and collections efforts, and intellectual property matters.

What You Will Do

  • Comply with all lawful directives of the General Counsel in all requested matters
  • Provide legal support to customer and vendor contracting teams
  • Draft, redline, and negotiate commercial agreements for customers, channel partners, and vendors
  • Assist the General Counsel in any Company litigation, including lawsuits, arbitrations, depositions, mediations, charges, collection efforts, and other claims
  • Conduct fact investigations concerning allegations and disputes arising out of contractual agreements, compliance concerns, employment-related claims, use or disclosure of intellectual property, and other matters relating to the company’s operations and the operations of the Company’s affiliates
  • Analyze legal risks and make recommendations regarding strategy to supervising attorney and executive leadership considering business goals and objectives
  • Utilize the Company’s licensed eDiscovery platform to review, cull, and produce emails, both during the discovery process and as part of pre-litigation or other investigations
  • This position has no direct reports but reports directly into the General Counsel
  • Inspire confidence in the Legal team by exercising good judgment, communicating professionally and mindfully with clients and fellow colleagues on sensitive matters, and collaborating with the Company’s legal and business teams to identify risks and resolve problems
  • Escalate concerns about unusual or unexpected legal and regulatory risks, as well as related business risks.
  • Research applicable law and responsible for special projects as needed
  • Responsible for staying up to date on relevant legal regulations and provides proactive legal guidance to the Company
  • Provide high-quality legal support as-needed and as-requested
  • Supports FinThrive’s Compliance Program by adhering to policies and procedures pertaining to HIPAA, FDCPA, FCRA, and other laws applicable to FinThrive’s business practices. This includes becoming familiar with FinThrive’s Code of Ethics, attending training as required, notifying management or FinThrive’s Helpline when there is a compliance concern or incident, HIPAA-compliant handling of patient information, and demonstrable awareness of confidentiality obligations.

What You Will Bring

  • Juris Doctor
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one state
  • 5+ years demonstrated contracting experience
  • Advanced knowledge of intellectual property matters, including trademark registrations
  • Advanced knowledge of employment law issues
  • Core knowledge of contract law and business law
  • Excellent negotiation and drafting skills
  • Excellent analytical skills, particularly pertaining to legal analysis
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly legal writing skills
  • Excellent organizational and decision-making skills
  • Strong emotional intelligence, with demonstrated ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a collaborative approach
  • Team player with ability to synthesize a variety of diverse perspectives to achieve workable solutions.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, in which priorities may change and compete
  • Ability to perform and thrive in a rapidly evolving environment, and to lead change in a positive, productive manner
  • Ability to develop collaborative and well-functioning working relationships with a variety of colleagues from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to anticipate issues and proactively solve problems
  • Travel: 10%
