Meta is seeking a highly motivated, talented attorney to join Meta’s Legal Privacy Team, covering a broad range of privacy issues to support our Social Impact and Central Products Platform teams. This role is product-focused and the ideal candidate will be eager to roll up their sleeves and problem-solve on complex, privacy-forward issues, working closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative compliance solutions to support Facebook’s suite of products and services. It’s an opportunity to work on some of the most important issues-not only at Meta, but also in the world right now-like elections and bringing faster internet to rural and less developed areas.You will be joining a collaborative team of privacy lawyers who identify, evaluate and address privacy risk in light of privacy laws, compliance obligations and policies, train on privacy matters, and collaborate closely with other legal teams as well as cross-functional privacy partners to provide global legal advice. We are looking for a candidate who has a solid understanding of privacy laws and principles, is a team player and collaborates well, and is able to practically weigh and manage risks around privacy.

Associate General Counsel, Privacy (Social Impact & Central Products Platform) Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in areas of data use and global privacy laws (including state and federal consumer protection and privacy laws, GDPR and other global privacy laws) and advise on the impact of the same on Meta's business
  • Work closely with product counsel and product teams to guide privacy-forward product development and evaluate the impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions
  • Drive high-profile and high-impact projects involving privacy analysis and compliance with cross-functional stakeholders across Meta's business, policy, legal, communications, security, and other departments
  • Develop global regulatory strategy in connection with new product features and initiatives and maintain Meta’s ongoing privacy-by-design processes
  • Develop and conduct internal privacy trainings

Minimum Qualifications:

  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
  • 8+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house or government experience
  • Experience advising on privacy legal risks and mitigations, with working knowledge of relevant privacy laws, including GDPR, LGPD and U.S. state privacy laws
  • Business judgment and client counseling experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-house or government experience with applicable privacy, regulatory, or product counseling, particularly at a technology company
  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and making judgments under deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience to independently, quickly and accurately assess legal, practical, and business risks, and to provide clear guidance

$226,000/year to $304,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
