Paralegal for Landlord/Tenant, Construction, and General Practice Group

As a Paralegal supporting our client’s Government, Landlord/Tenant, Construction, and General Practice Group, you will play a crucial role in assisting attorneys with case management, legal research, document preparation, and client communication. Your ability to handle multiple tasks and manage competing priorities will be essential to your success in this role. This is a contract role for an initial 60-day period with a start date by the end of July.

Key Responsibilities:

Case Management:

  • Assist attorneys with the management of cases from inception through resolution.
  • Organize and maintain case files, ensuring that all documents are accurately filed and easily accessible.
  • Track case deadlines and ensure timely completion of all required tasks.
  • Assisting in the management of transactions and contracts.
  • Staying up to date on applicable legal procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Coordination of the needs and projects of governmental clients and entities.

Legal Research:

  • Conduct legal research on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law.
  • Prepare memoranda summarizing research findings and providing recommendations.

Document Preparation:

  • Draft, review, and revise legal documents, including pleadings, motions, contracts, and correspondence.
  • Assist in the preparation of discovery materials, including interrogatories, requests for production, and deposition summaries.

Client Communication:

  • Serve as a liaison between attorneys and clients, ensuring clear and timely communication.
  • Schedule and coordinate client meetings, depositions, and court appearances.
  • Respond to client inquiries and provide updates on case status.

Administrative Support:

  • Perform general administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and handling correspondence.
  • Assist with the preparation of trial exhibits, witness lists, and other materials for court proceedings.

Compliance and Record Keeping:

  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all case activities and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field.
  • Paralegal certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in a law firm environment with exposure to government, landlord/tenant, construction, and general practice areas.
  • Litigation and E-filing (for example, File & Serve, Pacer, and CM/ECF) experience preferred, but not required.
  • Strong understanding of legal procedures and terminology.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Ability to deal with interruptions and multiple matters.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
