Role Summary
The role of the Vice President, Legal is to understand and help to manage enterprise-wide legal risks by developing commercially practical and implementable risk mitigation strategies to support and advance GTT’s business functions and strategic corporate objectives.
Job Scope/Supervision
The Vice President, Legal will liaise between the Legal Department and GTT business functions such as Sales, Finance (including Billing, Tax, Collections, etc.), Operations, Product, and Human Resources to help support their functions.
In this role, you will act as a key resource and primary point of contact for our business teams on legal issues that arise in the course of their day-to-day work, compliance and regulatory matters and variety of legal and business issues such as corporate, securities, intellectual property, contract negotiation and employment law.
The Vice President, Legal will report to the General Counsel and may be asked to manage other members of the Legal Department.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and input that is accurate, understandable and focused
- Liaise with internal business functions such as sales, finance, operations, human resources and others to support the work of those business units
- Comply with and help to ensure the compliance of others with GTT policies and procedures, as well as applicable laws and regulations
- Work proactively and closely with your colleagues within and outside of the legal department including external counsel
- Advise on and help to manage the full range of legal issues that arise at GTT including data protection, compliance, company law, employment law, litigation/dispute resolution, regulatory affairs, real estate matters, licensing, etc.
- Draft, amend, advise on and negotiate a full range of commercial agreements
- Subject to approval, instruct external counsel in cost effective manner to provide and procure sound legal advice
- Respond to requests for legal support in an accurate, professional, high-quality timely and efficient manner
- Act ethically and responsibly in all dealings with GTT colleagues and with third parties
- Ad hoc duties as required
Required Experience/Qualifications
- Law degree from an ABA accredited law school and be a member in good standing of at least one state bar organization
- 10+ years of relevant legal experience (preferably in house and in a regulated industry)
- Sophisticated understanding of commercial law and its practical applications in a business environment
- Hands on experience with contract preparation, review and negotiation
- Experience of working on cross border transactions, particularly on a Pan European basis highly desirable
- Telecoms/ IT experience is desirable

Hours/Travel/Shift
- 40 hrs weekly/Travel as required by business
