Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Legal organization’s leader of the commercial legal team for North America and Latin America in support of Risk Advisory Segment.
  • Be a point of escalation for legal team members on substantive questions that arise in the course of client negotiations.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced team members.
  • Conduct trainings for the business and the legal team on substantive topics.
  • Build and maintain relationship as a trusted advisor to the Presidents of the Risk Advisory Segment.
  • Keep GC apprised of issues that arise relating to the support of the business and to the administration of the legal team, escalating matters appropriately.
  • Adding muscle fiber to the team and serving as a “player-manager,” review, draft and negotiate legal documents and identify issues related to engagement letters, NDAs, LOIs/MOUs, Master Services Agreements, SOWs, “software as a service” agreements.
  • Be responsible for building and streamlining legal processes, updating a form library and self-help mechanisms.
  • Advise Risk Advisory Segment leaders, and from time to time, Financial Advisory Segment leaders, on bankruptcy related questions.
  • Take on other collateral duties to assist the broader legal organization and the firm proactively and as directed, on a global basis.

Requirements

  • University/Accredited Law School degree.
  • Bar admission in NY or other appropriate US jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 10-12 years of relevant experience.
  • Substantive experience in professional services/consulting, litigation, and bankruptcy; experience in technology and adjacent areas preferred.
  • Ability to assess a variety of novel, non-standard situations to identify legal and business risks, and effectively manage those risks in a collaborative, commercially oriented and pragmatic manner.
  • Demonstrated strong, collaborative style across organizational boundaries.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – a diplomatic temperament balanced with assertiveness and the ability to say no. Has the judgement to know when to ask for help.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and uncertainty.
  • Address important issues directly and honestly.
  • Ability to understand and create enterprise-wide organizational relationships in order to facilitate results. Deploys knowledge and judgment and proactively raises issues to manage risk and protect Kroll’s brand.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in relevant areas of the law. Identifies gaps and proposes policy changes if necessary.

The NY salary range for this position is $125,000 - $250,000.
