Introduction

An ideal role for someone looking to transition to an in-house position and/or early in their career interested in working on projects in a variety of areas. As Associate Corporate Counsel, you’ll play an important role in supporting iRobot’s legal team on litigation, brand/IP and general legal matters that arise. You’ll need to be proactive and engaged, able to work well cross-functionally both internally and externally, excited about technology and consumer products, and ready to roll your sleeves up and dig into legal problems to reach a creative solution.

This role is based in the Bedford, MA corporate office and will be a hybrid position. The successful candidate will report to the Associate General Counsel and will work closely with the entire legal team.

What You Will Do

The Associate Corporate Counsel is expected to work closely with a broad range of business teams, including product, engineering, and supply chain to advise and help manage iRobot’s trademark portfolio, support litigation matters and legal issues to enable the business to scale and grow. The candidate is expected to provide strategic and legal support to the Head of IP, General Counsel and Associate General Counsel as needed. The successful candidate will also be able to provide day-to-day advice to assist the Company in managing and mitigating legal risks, and will include the following key responsibilities:

• Assist the General Counsel and Associate General Counsel in the supervision of outside counsel relationships in litigation matters, including case strategy, discovery, trial preparation, and compliance with outside counsel guidelines.
• Lead internal investigation efforts, collect facts and discovery responses, assist in the execution of litigation strategy, negotiate and draft settlement agreements.
• Collaborate with business and legal colleagues throughout the Company on a variety of legal issues.
• Support the Head of IP in the maintenance of iRobot’s trademark portfolio, brand enforcement, and/or in review of marketing strategies and collateral.
• Coordinate internal communication, projects, and training amongst different teams (legal, privacy, human resources, information security, product, finance, and regional teams).
• Provide support as needed to assist on other company initiatives (new technology implementation, internal policies, and data privacy and security efforts).

To Be Successful You Will Have

• A J.D. from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school, and membership in good standing to at least one state bar.
• 3-6 years legal experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to collaboratively work cross functionally with internal teams.
• Proficient knowledge of legal issues specific to the consumer products or technology industry or willingness to learn.
• Track record of establishing strong working relationships with internal/external business clients and within the legal department.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to explain complex issues in a simple way to business partners, leadership, and other stakeholders
