We are currently seeking an experienced Energy Litigation Attorney with specialized knowledge in handling government subpoenas and second requests. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-stakes legal matters within a dynamic and fast-paced industry. In this three-month contract position you will play a critical role in managing and responding to legal inquiries from government agencies. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all legal requirements and providing strategic legal advice to support our business operations.

Job Title: Subpoena Défense Litigation Attorney Location: Remote. Job Type - Contract (Full time). Contract Duration: 3-6 months.

Key Responsibilities: Subpoena and 2nd Request Management:

  • Handle and respond to government subpoenas and second requests related to regulatory investigations and compliance matters.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external counsel to gather, review, and produce responsive documents and information.

Legal Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on issues related to government subpoenas, second requests, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide clear and concise legal advice to internal stakeholders on compliance obligations and risks.

Document Review and Production:

  • Oversee the document review process to ensure accurate and timely production of documents in response to subpoenas and second requests.
  • Implement and manage electronic discovery (eDiscovery) processes and tools.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure that all responses to subpoenas and second requests comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Advise on best practices for maintaining compliance and mitigating legal risks.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Liaise with government agencies, external counsel, and internal departments to facilitate efficient and effective communication and coordination.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports and updates to senior management on the status of legal matters.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in Texas.
  • 5+ years of experience as an attorney with a focus on government subpoenas, second requests, and regulatory compliance, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements in the oil and gas sector.
  • Experience with electronic discovery (eDiscovery) processes and tools.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
