A leading lifestyle and athletic apparel company is seeking to engage a patent agent, full-time (40 hours per week), on a contract basis, with an initial 12 month term. This role would be hybrid, out of the company's Portland, OR offices.

Role and Responsibilities: Patent Agent Reporting to the Senior Manager, Global Patents, and supporting the Legal Counsel, Footwear, in supporting the patent needs of the growing and dynamic footwear team, including the following:

• Draft patent applications based on submitted invention disclosures
• Work with inventors to draft invention briefs and defensive publications
• Prepare design patent applications
• Review prior patent references and assist in preparing office action responses including claim amendments
• Conduct patent and patent landscape searches
• Provide freedom to operate, non-infringement and patentability opinions
• Work with cross-functional partners in innovation teams to assess product innovations and identify patentable subject matter
• Manage the innovation capture, clearance and protection processes
• Liaise with external patent counsel on patent draft, filing and prosecution matters in North America and Globally

Requirements:

• Registered Patent Agent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office or experience as patent specialist
• 3+ years experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications
• Experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications in footwear, apparel or textile field
• Solid technical background and ability to understand and learn new technology in wide variety of technical areas including footwear, apparel, fabric engineering, product development, emerging retail methods and product design
• Strong organizational and project management skills, including ability to successfully manage and prioritize deadlines and multiple projects
• Strong research and analytical skills including use of online patent search platforms
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
• Detail oriented and committed to a high degree of accuracy
• Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines Position is for in-person/hybrid in Portland, Oregon, 40 hours/week.
• Must be eligible to work in USA.

• Hours: 40 Hours / Week
• Duration: 12 Months (From 7/22/2024 until 7/21/2025)
• Pay Rate: $55 - $60 / hr
