- Undergraduate degree and J.D. or equivalent law degree.
- Licensed to practice law in one or more US jurisidictions (Texas or New York preferred).
- Familiarity with power and natural gas trading activities
- Some familiarity with regulations and rules covering energy trading (including FERC and CFTC rules and regulations).
- Familiarity with the legal issues relating to physical commodity trading including commercial law.
- Experience in negotiating and documenting physical natural gas (NAESB), physical power (EEI) and financial (ISDA) transactions.
- Good understanding and working knowledge of complex energy trading transactions and related risk implications.
- Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate clearly and succinctly.
