Job Summary and Qualifications
Senior Employment Counsel will assist the VP and Chief Labor and Employment Counsel with day-to-day legal activities related to existing and potential employment law related claims and issues in the corporate office and the various facilities and affiliates. This includes assistance in responding to questions from operators and claims raised before state and federal agencies and courts. This also includes coordination with other corporate departments in helping to implement HR policies.
Responsibilities
Senior Employment Counsel will be responsible for responding to inquiries form the corporate office and various facilities and affiliates on how to comply with the various federal, state, and local laws and regulations relating to employment issues. Counsel will also be heavily involved in the defense of employment claims brought against these entities before federal, state, and local agencies as well as claims raised in the courts. Counsel will work independently on behalf these entities or in conjunction with outside counsel. When working with outside counsel, Counsel will be responsible for the overall management of the case.
Education and Experience
· JD from accredited law school
· 10+ years’ legal experience.
· Subject-matter expert on labor and employment law regulatory compliance and risk management issues,
· Admission to the Tennessee bar
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
