Legal.io is working with a top fintech and consumer lending company to hire a Regulatory Counsel for a 3-month, part-time (20 hr/week), temporary engagement.

What You’ll Do:

Work with the legal/compliance team to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements

Review product, marketing, and other business proposals for compliance with consumer lending law and regulation

Provide expertise on legal developments affecting the financial services industry

Research business and legal issues as necessary

Assist with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts

Qualifications

JD from an accredited US law school

3-6 years of law firm experience

Currently eligible to practice in state of residence

Knowledge of state and federal consumer protection, financial services, and lending laws

Able to produce high quality work independently

Can identify, analyze, and propose creative solutions to legal and business issues in a hands-on manner

Can escalate issues, as appropriate, within the legal team

Strong work ethic and careful attention to detail

Role Details:

20 hrs/week

Ideal start: ASAP

Duration: 3 months

Location: REMOTE

Hours: Some overlap with the company's core hours (9 am - 2 pm PT) would be preferred
