Key job responsibilities

Structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex distribution, development, licensing, production, marketing, and other commercial agreements; and providing ongoing legal counsel across a range of fields, including privacy and regulatory compliance, intellectual property, and digital media.

Some travel may be required.

A day in the life

You will serve as primary legal support for the Amazon Music business. Our work is intellectually challenging, exciting and fast-paced. Developing innovative solutions to novel legal questions is part of our daily business. Like everyone at Amazon, we are passionate about our customers. You will directly advise our music streaming business on a broad range of entertainment matters. Next to working on new initiatives, you will work as the lead lawyer on strategic projects, providing day-to-day advice to the business in a wide range of legal areas, notably content licensing, marketing, and privacy and regulatory compliance. You will directly work with the business to take the lead in structuring, drafting and negotiating licenses and commercial agreements with external partners.

Amazon Music Legal is part of the Amazon Entertainment Legal group, which also includes Amazon Video, Amazon Studios, Audible, Games, and Twitch.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active membership in one state bar
  • 2+ years experience practicing law as a transactional attorney, preferably with some of that time spent working in IP, technology, or entertainment transactions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of experience in a national or international law firm
  • Experience structuring, drafting, negotiating, and closing a broad range of commercial contracts
  • Incisive business as well as legal instincts
  • Sound judgment in ambiguous situations
  • Prowess in delivering results independently, as well as collaboratively
  • Passion to embrace challenges and aggressively drive meaningful solutions, including amid complexity and uncertainty
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, and commitment to follow through and meet deadlines
  • Sharp analytical and communication skills
