Realty Income is looking to hire a Senior Legal Counsel to collaborate with our in-house Acquisitions team in the procurement of a variety of commercial property types, including but not limited to single assets, bulk assets, and development projects. The ideal candidate will be able to manage all necessary legal activities, and third-party vendors, to collaborate on devising the optimal approach to various transactions, while ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements.

What you will work on:

  • Coordinate, analyze, manage, negotiate, document, and close a wide range of multifaceted real estate acquisitions transactions.
  • Review, draft, negotiate and approve documents of a broad variety related to various real estate transactions, e.g., confidentiality agreements, letter of intent, correspondence, purchase agreements, escrow instructions, lease agreements, amendments, assignments, estoppels, development agreements, title objection letters, deeds, closing documents, business entity documents, etc.
  • Approve information and reports received in connection with complex transactions, e.g., title commitments, surveys, plans and specifications, environmental reports, engineering reports, construction monitoring reports, etc.
  • Review existing loan documents and negotiate lender consent documents in connection with the assumption of in-place loans encumbering real estate.
  • Supervise paralegal in coordinating escrow closings and post-closing matters.
  • Apply risk management techniques, assess potential exposure, and offer proactive advice and solutions on possible legal issues.
  • Communicate and negotiate with a variety of external parties, e.g., brokers, external counsel, third -party vendors.
  • General legal research and investigation and routine advice/counsel to all departments on a variety of legal matters.

What we need from you:

  • Juris Doctorate degree with proven academic success from an accredited law school.
  • Ideally 6-8 years of on-point legal experience; commercial real estate transactions a must.
  • Bar membership required.
  • Proven experience as a legal counsel in a business environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of real estate and corporate law.
