Shook, Hardy and Bacon is growing and looking to add a Legal (law firm) Practice Manager to strategically support our growth. The ideal candidate will have operational experience and the ability building rapport with Practice Managing Partners, C-Suite, and staff. To successfully carry out the responsibilities of this position, the selected candidate should expect to work onsite in our Kansas City, MO headquarters 4 days per week . The Practice Manager:

Operational : Make significant operating decisions impacting the practice group and firm.

  • Integrate practice group processes with the firm to drive efficiency.
  • Oversee practice group technology needs.
  • Minimize administrative burdens to maximize attorney productivity.
  • Coordinate and attend practice group meetings.
  • Lead ad hoc projects impacting practice management.

Financial : Manage financial relationships with clients, including tracking budgets and responding to audits.

  • Develop and implement creative pricing strategies.
  • Develop annual practice group budget.

Client Relations: Support client development and marketing efforts, including responses to RFPs, strategic business development plans, marketing brochures, and overall coordination of practice group marketing efforts.

  • Prepare and present client reports on budgeting, vendor utilization, and strategic planning.
  • Respond to client inquiries and outside counsel.
  • Assist with new business intake processes, including engagement letters.
  • Enhance knowledge transfer and service to attorneys and clients.

Supervision/ Management: supervising staff and managing multi-jurisdiction employment laws.

  • Coordinates practice group needs and hiring and staffing.
  • Oversee performance metrics and provide recommendations.
  • Coordinates workflow and staffing issues with practice group Legal Service Manager.

Manage relationships with litigation vendors.

Keep COO informed of issues and seek advice as needed.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with legal practice management operations, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience supervising staff and managing multi-jurisdiction employment laws.
  • Supervising staff in a law practice or practice group.
  • Juris Doctorate
