The Counsel will provide legal support to enable PMI's Smoke Free Future vision in the U.S. by providing legal support for the U.S. Inhalables Commercial team as they design and implement marketing and commercial plans to reach business objectives in a manner consistent with all relevant laws and regulations and PMI standards and perspectives. This role reports to the Assistant General Counsel, Inhalables.
Your ‘day To Day’
- Understands the relevant legal and federal, state, and local regulatory framework for the commercialization of PMI smoke-free products in the U.S., and company positions.
- Establishes effective working relationships with team and other Legal Department members and work in partnership with the business to deliver quality, proactive and pragmatic business-centered advice designed to avoid or minimize exposure to legal liability.
- Ensures commercial plans and operations comply with applicable laws and regulations including state and local licensing, federal and state fair competition laws, the FDA Tobacco Control Act, etc.
- Effectively communicates risks and consequences to business colleagues and develops alternatives to manage identified risks.
- Participates in and supports cross-functional and departmental initiatives. Participate in commercial project teams, ensuring that decisions and recommendations protect the company’s legal interests.
- Conducts legal research and analysis as assigned. Efficiently gathers and distills relevant information from appropriate sources, identifies and analyzes legal issues and knows when to escalate them.
- With supervision of Assistant General Counsel, establishes and maintains database of relevant state and local regulations to support company compliance.
- Drafts key documents including legal memos and a wide range of agreements with customers, vendors, partners, resellers, distributors, etc.
- Maintains a culture with a high degree of emphasis on dignity, respect, and inclusion.
- Collaborate with relevant global legal subject matter experts to ensure consistency in quality legal advice.
- Other projects, as assigned.
Who We’re Looking For
- J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction.
- At least 5 years of concentrated experience which demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and applied understanding of commercial practice
- Both in-house and major law firm experience preferred.
Annual Base Salary Range: $156,750-$209,000
