As our Legal Operations Manager , you will play a vital role in managing the contract lifecycle, ensuring compliance and efficiency in legal operations. This role involves implementing and managing a contract lifecycle management platform, handling day-to-day operations of legal databases and processes , and supporting compliance efforts . The position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

This role is an on-site position. Currently, the Portland Trail Blazers work in a hybrid environment, with three days in the office and two days remote.

DAY-TO-DAY :

  • Manage contracts throughout their lifecycle, tracking contract deadlines and renewals, and managing contract execution and filing.
  • Handle day-to-day operations of Legal matter intake system, legal databases and document folders.
  • Help prepare, revise, and maintain various legal documents, including contracts, templates, reports, and other ancillary documents.
  • Research and analyze statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other primary and secondary legal sources as requested; track, identify and analyze important legal and regulatory developments.
  • Help prepare, maintain and file corporate records, filings and organization documents for new and existing entities.
  • Update, as directed, corporate and regulatory policies, templates, operating procedures, spreadsheets, tracking charts and other organizational materials.
  • Support compliance efforts related to privacy, data protection and security and other regulatory matters; assist with handling and responding to data subject rights requests; help implement processes to track and comply with legal obligations.
  • Assist with due diligence, including document collection and review, and due diligence research and review for corporate transactions.
  • Assist with intellectual property, trademark and copyright portfolio management.
  • Develop and handle detailed project schedules and work plans and provide reporting and updates on projects, programs, and progress.
  • Assist, c oordinate and manage requests and communications with external legal counsel and service providers , including selection and engagement processes, periodic reporting, and budget tracking .
  • Liaison between departments, coordinating and fielding legal requests, communicating updates and requirements and providing contractual information in response to business inquiries.
  • Provide administrative and operation support, including data entry and analysis, managing calendar for legal filings and deadlines, scheduling meetings, preparing legal communications and proofreading.
  • Support litigation management, including, but not limited to researching, identifying, and collecting information to respond to interrogatories, requests for production, and third-party subpoenas while coordinating with internal clients and outside counsel.

WE’D LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE :

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Legal Studies, or a related field.
  • Paralegal certification and/or 5+ years of relevant experience in contract administration, a corporate legal department, or a law firm.
  • Strong understanding of contract structures, key clauses, drafting, negotiation, and legal review processes.
  • Superior written and oral communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of litigation terminology and principles, as well as legal document management.
  • Experience in contract lifecycle management systems, contract tracking, and compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop workflows and process improvements for contract and legal operations.
  • Familiarity with e-discovery, claims management, and legal compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to perform legal research using Westlaw and other research tools.
  • Strong proficiency with Office 365, Adobe, and legal software (e.g., Legal Tracker, Legal Hold Pro, or other contract management platforms).
  • High level of discretion, sensitivity, and tact in handling confidential matters.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines effectively.

WE’D BE THRILLED IF YOU ALSO HAVE :

  • Certified Contract Manager or similar contract management certification.
  • Experience with suite licensing agreements, sponsorship contracts, or vendor agreements in a corporate or sports/entertainment setting.
  • Knowledge of contract lifecycle management software, such as DocuSign, Ironclad, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with compliance regulations, including data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA , etc. ) and procurement policies.
  • Experience negotiating high-value contracts or working closely with procurement teams.
  • Background in financial analysis or budgeting related to contracts and legal spend.
