Job Summary: We are looking for a dedicated full-time Legal Affairs Lead to oversee all internal legal matters, compliance strategies, and external legal coordination. The ideal candidate will serve as a critical member of our management team, ensuring regulatory compliance, risk management, and effective legal governance as we scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all internal legal activities, providing guidance on corporate law, contracts, regulatory compliance, and governance.
- Coordinate closely with external institutional law firms for complex legal work, ensuring alignment with company strategy and regulatory requirements.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage various legal documents including contracts, service agreements, NDAs, employment agreements, and equity-related documentation.
- Monitor, interpret, and ensure compliance with fintech regulatory requirements (SEC, FINRA, GDPR, AML, KYC).
- Lead corporate governance initiatives, manage board communications, meeting agendas, and documentation.
- Maintain an organized system for managing legal documentation and ensure confidentiality and security.
- Advise executive leadership proactively on legal risks, regulatory changes, and strategic implications.
- Provide training and awareness programs on compliance, privacy laws, and internal policies.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree required with active legal licensure.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate legal practice, fintech regulatory compliance, or related roles.
- In-depth knowledge of corporate governance, fintech regulations, securities law, and data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA).
- Proven track record managing relationships with external legal counsel.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to clearly communicate legal concepts to business stakeholders.
- Prior experience in a startup, fintech, or financial services environment is highly preferred.
