Sphera Search is partnering with the Detroit office of a large firm on its search for an associate with at least one year of relevant experience to join its highly ranked data privacy practice. The hired candidate could sit in Detroit or work remotely from another location.

Responsibilities:

• Data Breach Response: Collaborate with clients to develop and implement comprehensive strategies for addressing data breaches including incident response plans and regulatory notifications.
• Regulatory compliance: Advise clients on compliance with data privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant statues, and develop tailored compliance programs.
• Government Investigations: Represent clients in investigations initiated by regulatory agencies, including responding to inquiries, conducting internal investigations, and negotiating with government authorities.
• Preventing Data Breaches: Provide proactive guidance to clients to minimize the risk for data breaches, including conducting privacy assessments, drafting policies and procedures, and delivering training sessions.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD)
• Active membership in good standing with the Michigan State Bar, or eligible for admission, or licensed in your home location.
• Minimum of one year experience in data privacy and cybersecurity law
• Understanding of relevant privacy laws and regulations
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
