Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the key responsibilities, minimum knowledge, skills, and ability required:

Key Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects
  • Drafts and files legal documents, including routine pleadings and motions and other documents
  • Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, decisions, and other legal sources
  • Interviews clients and witnesses and prepares summaries of statements
  • Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, deposition, pleadings, and other items
  • Assists attorneys with trial preparation
  • Review and summarize reports
  • Manage deadlines for cases
  • File documents with the court electronically
  • Consistently meet minimum weekly billable hour requirement
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Associate Degree in paralegal studies or related work experience
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of Criminal and Family Paralegal experience
  • Strong knowledge of both Criminal and Family law procedures
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations and information with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Basic problem-solving skills
  • Ability to engage in a collaborative work environment with other employees and team lead
  • Exhibit extraordinary discretion, flexibility, and willingness to work closely with co-workers and the leadership team
  • Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite / Apple products / MacOS / Colorado E Courts
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
