Job Summary:

Primarily responsible for the drafting, review, and negotiation of system contracts for supply chain (equipment and supplies), information technology (IT), non-clinical vendor services, etc. for Froedtert ThedaCare Health, Inc. internal contract stakeholders and other organization leaders, consistent with the FTCH mission, vision, and enterprise values.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides accurate, relevant, and timely advice to internal contract stakeholders and other organization leaders with respect to the enterprise contracts for supply chain (equipment and supplies), information technology (IT), and other non-clinical vendor services (as assigned), for which they are responsible.
  • Be an integral part of and advances the leadership, oversight, effectiveness and efficiency of the FTCH Office of General Counsel (OGC) contracting team tasked with interpreting, drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, including measuring and reporting to executive teams on key performance indicators and service-level metrics, providing performance management and evaluation to team members, ensuring delivery of high-quality contracting team-related legal services, and driving disciplined execution and continuous improvement of systems processes and tools.
  • Works cooperatively and closely as a member of the OGC contracting team in framing analysis, advice, and recommendations, and conveys such recommendations in a clear and concise manner. Coordinates activities with other members of the OGC contracting team in fostering collaborative/team working environment.
  • Provides appropriate mentoring, training, support, and development of the OGC contracting team, including attorney and non-attorney staff, and of the system contracting stakeholders, particularly regarding issue-spotting, risk mitigation and best practices.
  • Develop and build relationships, and work closely and collaboratively, with system-wide business teams.
  • Identifies opportunities for the preparation of template agreements and forms and prepares such agreements and forms for use by FTCH non-legal personnel in order to expedite the review of contracts.
  • Assists with the management of FTCH's intellectual property portfolio, including coordinating with outside legal counsel, as necessary.
  • Functions as lead attorney in the resolution of legal disputes related to supply chain (equipment and supplies), IT, and non-clinical vendor services-related contract engagements, including coordinating with internal resources and outside legal counsel as necessary to resolve such disputes.
  • Supervises matters that are referred to outside counsel. Monitors activities and billings of outside legal counsel to budge and assists in the development of policies and processes to assist in the reduction of outside legal expenses.
  • Stays up to date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect the health care industry and supply chain (equipment and supplies), information technology (IT), non-clinical vendor services, etc. related matters.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

Must have a minimum of 3-8 years of relevant contracting experience in an in-house or law firm setting. Working in or supporting the contract function within a complex, matrix organization is a plus.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:

Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school required.

Excellent oral and writing communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent legal research, with a strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated ability to manage a range of legal matters. Ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable advice for the business teams. Self-starter capable of working independently and seeking direction as needed. Ability to work under pressure, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines will be necessary. Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite. Commitment, value, excellence, and professional development.

LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:

Licensed to practice law as in-house counsel and in good standing in the State of Wisconsin or be eligible to seek admission to practice in Wisconsin upon hire.
