This position may be filled remotely, or in any of our locations.

The Conflicts Counsel directs and conducts the timely and thorough review, identification, and resolution of conflicts of interest, preparation of conflicts waivers, and recommendations regarding ethical wall implementation. The Conflicts Counsel collaborates with colleagues within the Conflicts, Client Engagement, Recruiting, Risk Management, and General Counsel teams to identify and resolve conflicts of interest issues. This position involves proactive and clear communication with partners, staff, and firm leadership regarding conflicts requests and complex conflicts questions. The Conflicts Counsel exercises discretion and independent judgment while complying with departmental and firm policies and procedures and assures compliance with applicable Rules of Professional Conduct. Essential job functions include:

Maintain a thorough working knowledge of technologies that support daily operations of the Conflicts department, including Intapp Open.Serve as a resource on legal questions involving conflict clearance.Discuss conflict of interest issues with attorneys, analysts, business intake, and firm leadership to identify and resolve potential conflicts while maintaining objectivity and professional independence.Reviews requests and reports to provide concise evaluations of potential conflict issues and document resolutions in Intapp Terms and as otherwise requested.Draft and review language in waiver and engagement letters to ensure adequate addressing of conflicts issues.Confirm the need for ethical walls to screen individuals from particular clients and matters as part of the conflict clearing process.Assist the Client Development team and partners in reviewing and responding to Requests for Proposals and similar business opportunities.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct and jurisdictional differences in all states and practice areas in which the Firm conducts business.Participate in professional organizations that promote the ongoing education and development of professional ethics in the legal industry.Conduct efficient review, identification, and resolution of conflicts of interest related to lateral candidates and new hires.Liaise directly with candidates, SBU leaders, and executive leadership as needed throughout the clearance and onboarding process.

Position Requirements

Juris Doctorate and active law license in a U.S. jurisdiction in which the attorney resides.Two or more years of conflicts-related experience, preferably in a large law firm environment.Computer proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required. Experience with Intapp Open and Intapp Terms strongly preferred.Ability to identify and analyze complex conflict of interest issues and recommend and implement solutions.Strong writing skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate, particularly with respect to summarizing and simplifying complex or numerous conflicts issues.Ability and availability to travel to other Firm locations on occasion as needed.Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to translate legal requirements into plain language.

Compensation And Benefits

Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:

State of California: $111,000 - $211,000State of Colorado: $102,000 - $182,000State of Illinois: $100,000 - $194,000Jersey City, NJ: $120,000 - $218,000State of Maryland: $107,000 - $163,000State of Massachusetts: $111,000 - $211,000State of Minnesota: $111,000 - $183,000State of New York: $103,000 - $223,000State of Washington: $107,000 - $204,000Washington, D.C.: $143,000 - $210,000

The above salaries do not include a discretionary bonus, however bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed, and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
