Position Overview

The Vice President – Employment Counsel will join the Global Atlantic Corporate Legal team, serving as the chief legal support to Global Atlantic’s Human Capital Department. This position will be based in our Boston, MA office. This position will also support the asset management business of affiliates of Global Atlantic’s parent company, KKR & Co. Inc. (NYSE: KKR), together with its subsidiaries, a leading global investment firm that manages investments across multiple asset classes including private equity, credit and real assets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE AND MAY NOT BE LIMITED TO:

Provide day-to-day proactive employment law advice, assistance and counseling to Human Capital on a broad range of issues relating to offer letters, separation agreements, restrictive covenants, immigration, independent contractor issues, reviewing third-party service contracts supporting HR, and DE&I initiatives.Keeping up to date with new developments in employment legislation and privacy rights. Manage all internal documents, including Employee Handbooks, relating to these issues.Manage whistle blower, termination of employment, harassment and bullying claims.Update offer letter templates and restrictive covenant documents as needed. Work closely with the Benefits team to ensure compliance across employee benefits such as leaves of absence, retirement plans, vacation policy, wage and overtime standards.Work closely with Business Partners and HR Generalists to help manage and respond to employee relations issues, investigations, grievances, and interactive accommodation processes.Work closely with HR to manage voluntary leavers and enforcing non-compete periods.Create, customize and update release agreements for terminating employees, including negotiating with any opposing counsel.Manage outside employment counsel, including managing immigration matters for the firm.Review disciplinary actions and termination decision with HR.Recommend, implement and continuously improve employment law related training; including ongoing training for Human Capital team on current employment issues.Respond to administrative complaints and regulatory investigations.Maintain employment law files and databases.Assist in managing immigration matters.Respond to complaints. Discrimination against employees based on age, ancestry, color, creed, disability, marital status, medical conditions, national origin, race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation.Assist with employment law litigation matters.Work with outside counsel on employment matters as needed.

Qualifications

Seven to ten years of employment law experience with a world-class global firm, and preferably both in-house employment law experience as well.Must have excellent legal skills and desire to learn and expand knowledge base.Candidate must be highly creative in outlining the priorities of the role and proactive and entrepreneurial.Able to communicate clearly and concisely, with executive presence to advise board members and deal executives.Self-starter who is able to manage and prioritize multiple demands and projects.Comfortable working in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment.Naturally engenders trust; can be counted on to do the “right thing” for the firm, its’ people and its’ clients, balancing all constituencies without compromising integrity.Licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction in the United States.

Critical Competencies For Success

Experience providing compliance, oversight, monitoring, and reporting of leveraged facilities and policies in a dynamic and fast paced environment, preferably in a financial services firm.Ability to proactively identify and coordinate initiatives relating to new regulations and other issues relevant to both the insurance and asset management business.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to efficiently draft policies and procedures and responses to regulatory inquiries that support the business.Consistent attention to detail while acting professionally, exercising sound judgement and discretion regarding sensitive subjects, and maintaining confidentiality at all times.Ability to manage multiple demands and projects while prioritizing time efficiently and remaining attentive to detail.Highly organized with experience tracking progression to effectively manage expectations across multiple stakeholders.Team-player that enjoys working in a collaborative and collegial environment with the desire to learn.To be considered for this role, applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or assume sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Various jurisdictions have passed pay transparency laws that require companies provide salary ranges for any positions for which they are accepting applications. Global Atlantic has offices in Atlanta, Batesville, Bermuda, Boston, Des Moines, Hartford, Indianapolis, and New York City. The base salary range posted below is inclusive of the lowest cost of living geography to the highest in which we have a Global Atlantic office.

Global Atlantic’s base salary range is determined through an analysis of similar positions in the external labor market. Base pay is just one component of Global Atlantic’s total compensation package for employees and at times we hire outside the boundaries of the salary range. Other rewards may include annual cash bonuses, long-term incentives (equity), generous benefits (including immediate vesting on employee contributions to a 401(k), as well as a company match on your contributions), and sales incentives. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Compensation for our more senior positions have a larger component of short-term cash bonus and long-term incentives.

The base salary range for this role is

$158,000—$301,200 USD
