The Real Estate Legal Assistant will play a key real estate role in a busy corporate acquisition and divestiture practice. This role will require researching the law, investigating facts, preparing legal documents and facilitating closings. This person will perform legal assignments that are varied and complex in nature. Assignments may be broad, requiring originality, ingenuity, and a high degree of technical skill.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Handle real estate diligence for M&A and real estate transactions, including reviewing, analyzing, and negotiating title reports and drafting objection letters.

  • Prepare deeds and transfer documents.

  • Draft closing checklist and closing documents and coordinate closings with assistance from Corporate Counsel.

  • Communicate with title company and counterparties concerning real estate matters.

  • Act as a liaison between business owners and internal business units to resolve real estate issues and other issues that may arise from transactions.

  • Assist with state-specific regulatory requirements regarding divestitures and acquisitions are met, including filing licensing applications.

  • Provide backup support to the privacy and cybersecurity attorney.

Qualifications and Experience Required :

  • At least 2 years of real estate title review and closing experience.

  • Familiarity with lien releases, deeds, escrow agreements and other real estate related documents.

  • Ability to research and summarize local zoning and recording requirements with assistance from Corporate Counsel.

  • Proficiency in Word and Excel.

  • Detail oriented, able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and work well under pressure.

  • Strong communication and writing skills.

  • Ability to problem-solve and exercise independent judgment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to function effectively as a team member.
