This is a very special opportunity to join Atlassian’s world-class Legal Team and lead a collaborative, business-minded group of legal professionals supporting our mission-critical journey to migrate our customers to the cloud. 

 

A bit more about the role:

  • This role reports to the General Counsel
  • Run the global Commercial function at Atlassian (this includes owning and driving the OKRs, managing the budget and associated cost center of the function, and the people-related strategies within the team)
  • You will be the leader and set the strategy for Atlassian’s commercial contracts practice, including sales, channel, partnerships, ecosystem, procurement, and M&A
  • You will have accountability to our Chief Revenue Officer for the design and effectiveness of how Legal supports and partners with Atlassian’s enterprise and low-touch sales models
  • Energize and help inspire the fast-growing Legal Team supporting Atlassian’s commercial transactions, empowering each teammate to do the best work of their life
  • Structure, draft, and negotiate strategic commercial agreements
  • Collaborate with other leaders internally (product, sales, marketing, engineering, IT, procurement, security, risk & compliance) on strategic initiatives
  • Deliver data-driven reporting that communicates and informs business teams on progress and initiatives
  • Scale the Commercial function through process automation, legal technology, and new efficiencies

 On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

  • Law degree and admission to at least one state bar.
  • 12+ years of experience handling technology transactions, with 6+ years in-house at a technology company
  • Substantial experience managing a team of legal professionals and scaling legal processes to support a global business
  • Deep understanding of privacy, data protection, security, and regulatory topics
  • Ability to drive impact and navigate competing priorities while remaining collaborative and inclusive
  • Passion to understand Atlassian’s products, customers, culture, and business models.
