Emerson Names Michael Tang Chief Legal Officer
Emerson, a global leader in automation software and technology, has announced the appointment of Michael Tang as Senior Vice President, Secretary, & Chief Legal Officer, effective Jan. 1, 2024. Tang will be taking over from Sara Yang Bosco, who is retiring after an impressive 18-year career with the company. As the Chief Legal Officer, Tang will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters and global security of Emerson, including corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, compliance, dispute resolution, and corporate and commercial operational matters.
Michael Tang brings with him more than two decades of extensive legal and leadership experience. Currently serving as the Senior Vice President, General Counsel, & Secretary of Agilent Technologies Inc., Tang has played a crucial role in the company's growth and success. Since 2006, his time with Agilent has seen him take on roles of increasing responsibility and lead attorney on the spinoff of the company's electronic measurement business.
Emerson's President and CEO, Lal Karsanbhai, expressed full confidence in Michael Tang, acknowledging him as a dynamic leader with a blend of established legal expertise and strategic acumen. Tang's educational background includes a JD from Columbia Law School and a bachelor's degree in economics from The Wharton School of Business. He is an active member of the State Bar of California and serves on the Board of Directors of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association. Tang will be relocating to St. Louis to assume his new role.
