Grindr Appoints Former Obama Lawyer Zachary Katz as General Counsel and Head of Global Affairs

Zachary Katz joins the Grindr legal team as General Counsel and Head of Global Affairs

Grindr Appoints Former Obama Lawyer Zachary Katz as General Counsel and Head of Global Affairs
Grindr, the popular LGBTQ+ dating app, has recently made a significant addition to its leadership team. Zachary Katz, a former deputy special counsel to President Barack Obama and seasoned Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer, has been appointed as Grindr's first General Counsel and Head of Global Affairs. This strategic move showcases Grindr's commitment to strengthening its legal and corporate affairs functions and highlights its dedication to serving the LGBTQ+ community.

Zachary Katz brings with him over 20 years of experience leading high-performing teams at mission-driven organizations. Prior to joining Grindr, he held key leadership positions at companies such as Age of Learning, Inc. and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Katz served as the Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer at Age of Learning, a market-leading education technology company valued at $3 billion, where he played a pivotal role in the company's growth and success. He was responsible for overseeing legal matters, corporate affairs, research, and international operations.

Before working at Age of Learning, Katz served in various capacities at the FCC, including Chief of Staff and Chief Counsel. In these roles, he played a vital part in shaping agency strategy and operations and was instrumental in landmark initiatives such as protecting net neutrality, expanding broadband access for students through the ConnectEd initiative, and advocating for consumer protection and competition. Katz's extensive experience in the public sector has equipped him with a deep understanding of regulatory and policy issues, making him an invaluable asset to Grindr.

Zachary Katz graduated from Yale Law School, where he was elected Editor-in-Chief of The Yale Law Journal. He also holds a magna cum laude degree from Yale College. Following his graduation, Katz clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and gained valuable experience as a corporate and litigation associate at the Munger, Tolles & Olson.

In his new role as General Counsel and Head of Global Affairs at Grindr, Zachary Katz will be responsible for leading the company's legal, regulatory, and corporate affairs functions. Katz's extensive experience in the public and private sectors makes him well-equipped to navigate the complex legal landscape and ensure that Grindr operates in accordance with the highest legal and ethical standards.

Katz's impressive background, extensive experience, and deep commitment to mission-driven organizations make him an ideal fit for this role. As Grindr continues to innovate and expand its services, Katz's legal expertise and strategic counsel will be invaluable in navigating the evolving regulatory landscape and advancing the company's mission of connecting LGBTQ+ individuals worldwide.
